In February of 1991, Garry J Mertz, a local contractor, and his wife Monica, purchased United Building Center in Ellendale, ND and opened Mertz Lumber & Supply. In July of 1996, a second lumber yard was opened in Oakes, ND. Both lumber yards are proud to provide quality in building materials and service to their customers.

Mertz Construction has continued serving the area since 1981. The crew is experienced in quality residential and commercial construction and remodeling, along with cabinet and furniture making. By using the products we sell, we gain knowledge in assisting other contractors and customers with their material purchases.

Mertz Construction & Supply, Inc. holds a Class 'A' North Dakota Contractor License. Garry served 3 terms on the board of the ND Retail Lumber Association and 2 terms as the ND representative on the board of the Northwestern Lumber Association, which serves a 7-state area.
